The wax is filtered, poured into the tin and left to set, with the wick held straight until the surface firms. The tin is the holder, so there is nothing to pack alongside it.

How to use them

• Trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before each light
• If you put it out before the wax is spent, let the top layer melt all the way to the tin wall first. Extinguishing it early leaves a ring of hard wax at the edge and the candle tunnels down the middle, so that outer wax never burns.
• Stand the tin on a heat-resistant surface; the metal gets warm
• Replace the lid only once the tin has cooled
• Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep them from children and pets
• Keep the wick centred so the wax burns down evenly

Common questions

How long does each tin burn? About 12 hours in still air with the wick trimmed. Outdoors it burns faster, so use the lid to snuff it between evenings.

Can the lid be used to put it out? Yes. Dropping the lid on starves the flame without smoke, which keeps the wax clean for the next light. Let the tin cool before sealing it.

Is the tin safe on a table? The metal conducts heat, so put it on something heat-resistant rather than straight on veneer or cloth.

Is there a scent? No fragrance is added; the only note is the faint honey smell of pure beeswax.
